I agree, I want to be able to see the skill level of each player. Novice and beginners play alot different than experts and Masters, so strategy is important based on the skill level of the players.

Agree - makes no sense to me - particularly as they have made skill level a filter when creating / joining games. They need to be consistent about whether it fundamentally matters to the game or you should always be blind to opponents skill level.
I always read complaints that beginners and novices never got to play against grandmasters - I was always prepared to do that knowing who and how many I was playing against but now I’m not prepared to do that in a ranked game.

I have had a change of heart on this particularly if you create the game. Looking at the player’s stats gives a far better view of what your opponent is like and how they may play rather than a single status measure. When you create the game you have time to do this but with the risk your opponents may not stick around for the game to start - when you did not create the game you can’t control the time you have to assess your opponent’s stats.
So, for me, the outcome is I’ll play a ranked game when I set it up but not when joining a game.

I agree with sttdci. I initially didn't like it, but I've gotten used to getting enough information from looking at opponents' stats.
