During games I wish I could tell my alliance buddie a good idea, or something like that etc. With chat it opens a whole new route an online game could go. With empty threats to diplomacy it opens a whole new way to play the game and would increase the fun for everyone. For people that may find it annoying, a mute button or an On/Off mode in options would be best.

Absolutely. Diplomacy is essential to any game involving war/strategy, and there is no way to engage in it right now. It helps to be able to at least attempt to dissuade people from making moves that only end up losing the game for both of you or giving another player an easy victory.
