There are plenty of unwelcomed "accidents" that could occur in the battlefield. Any player can experience difficulties with their forces possibly getting depleted with the inclusion of maps that feature a Volcano, Tsunami, or even several unexpected explosions.

This is all I could think of but Im sure the team could up with more versions than myself

This could be really fun as something you can turn on/off as game host. Several players have made similar suggestions for earthquakes and natural disasters. It could even be adapted for things like random Zombie outbreaks (if we ever get to do a zombie-rules game.

Zombie outbreaks could be a fun advanced feature, they could take over armies and countries until their energy source is defeated
