Fair Play Rules

To clear up any confusion in the community on what constitutes cheating we have the following Fair Play Rules.

  1. Hacking the game, in any way, is (considered) cheating.

  2. Using multiple accounts in the same game (to gain an advantage over other players) is (considered) cheating.

  3. Playing with someone you know in Global Domination is cheating.

  4. Abusing a bug or glitch or knowingly encouraging abuse of these is cheating.

  5. Creating a negative experience for other players, by actions such as spamming excessively, refusing to end games, intentionally disrupting gameplay, delaying gameplay (stalling), or abusing our reconnection system intentionally, is cheating.

  6. Don't play with anyone you know or have external communication with in Global Domination. Use Play Friends or risk a ban!

If you wish to play with people you know please use the Play with Friends mode. If you still wish to play with friends against real opponents, this must still be done via Play Friends. Please use the RISK Community's #looking_for_game feature at https://discord.gg/risk

What happens when a player is reported for any of the above?

The following action will be taken if they are found to have broken these rules;

  • If the player was (found) hacking, they will be banned from RISK entirely.

  • Although we try to warn new players who might not be aware of the rules, such a warning is not guaranteed. You might be banned by automatic or semiautomatic systems before receiving such warning.

  • Should a player be banned - Their leaderboard position and rank points are completely removed. All games they have participated in for the current season, will have game results re-ordered so that they are placed last. All of their opponents will see this minor bonus.

FAQ

Q: How do I report a player?

A: Report in-app by clicking on their avatar and clicking on the red triangle icon under their name in the Alliance Window. If you come across any suspected hacking - Create a support ticket at http://smgstudio.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new with the names of the players.

Q: Why can't I team up with my friends in Global Domination?

A: We take a "act as you would like to be acted towards" approach here. It is unfair to team up against unsuspecting player who believe they are entering a fair “free for all” game. The ranking system is designed for “free for all” gameplay, not teams.

Q: Will you be adding a team mode in the future?

A: Yes it’s our goal to release a team mode that allows you to play with friends or random allies against another team. No ETA on this currently, but you can find information here http://smgstudio.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/11000009600 .

Q: Will more be done to prevent cheating?

A: Yes, we are currently rolling out a full suite of anti cheating features. Some have already been implemented and it’s logging play now.

Q: What is the difference between forming alliances with stranger and forming one with friends?

A: There is a difference between: the informal, temporary alliances forged and broken throughout the game (which, with all its betrayal, is an integral part of RISK) and starting a game with a friend or relative as well as strangers in there. This is intentional ganking and will not be tolerated. If you just want to play for the fun of it with your friends, start a "Play with Friends" game against AI opponents.

Naming and shaming in forums is usually frowned upon. Info on cheaters should be sent to support.
No freaking kidding. I love your game but as of late it has been frustrating. Something just has not seemed right in play. It is baffling someone would put so much effort in a "rank" to create multiple accounts etc. I will be more observant but, are there common names to watch for? What is best way to weed them out. Maybe again a ladder or random play option I read some comment about. I truly hope it gets resolved as I love the play
Good concept. Just played a very questionable game...report ticket is VERY cumbersome...maybe have an in game report questionable play...then all data can be screen shorted and sent instantly. Really getting discouraging....guess I'll just go back to playing AI. Cheaters ruin shi@
The actual playing against humans really sucks, recently. I quit playing for a while because of it. Started again, it is worse. Ready to delete forever. It is just no fun at all when you can obvious watch 2-3 people (characters, because I think they sitting beside each other, or it is the same person playing multiple players) cheat and hold up to 50 troops with one color, while chipping away at everyone else with another color until they are dominant on the board. Love the game, really hate playing your version, because you seem to either not be able to do anything about cheating, or you do not CARE to do anything, because your company makes the same money, either way. End of the day, step up and do something, or it looks like you going to start losing a lot of players, from reading the MANY Posts just like mine. If you cheat, you suck. You cannot feel good about yourself for winning this way, unless you are just an absolute loser and have no other life than an iPad. Hahahahahaha

Agree 100% the cheating makes this game miserable to play and impossible to enjoy.

I’m a 52 year veteran of this great game. Started with the original board, there is no need to rank someone as beginner, novice, master, grandmaster, etc. It just encourages cheating. I never play anything above expert. I start my own game and when a master or grandmaster shows up I kick them out. Usually two to three others leave immediately afterward. What does that tell you? I play to have fun not ranking, not after 52 years. Can’t have fun with cheaters. If enough folks do the aftermentioned, they’ll get it.

It has gotten so bad I ONLY play unranked games that I start. Then it doesn’t matter what happens.

Too many collaboration cheaters or one player with more than one phone. Please let every player that has been reported know in real time during the game and for all players to see. Let him know he will be checked while still playing and cheating

I’ve been playing this game for 2+ years. There have always been hackers and cheaters, but in the last three weeks I went from 8000 score to 185,000! I would say that 90% of the games were new collaborators (cheaters) and 15% blatant hacking. I don’t know what SMG is doing, but they really dropped the ball in the last month.
I want to report a cheater named Covid. He started in China then made his way to Italy. He dominated there before heading to north America and reeked havoc in USA. Please ban Covid asap!
I love risk but had at least 3 games where it was obvious I was eliminated. I like a well played game and say well played when it was but when you obviously eliminate someone it's not. See ya
Hate cheaters won't play anymore..

There is the option to create a list of friends - but is there an option to create a list of enemies - i.e. people (especially cheaters) you DON'T want to play with. The list of available games could therefore not show games containing any person on your enemy list. I appreciate they could join the game after you - but if that happens you could provide the ability to leave the game before it starts by alerting you to the fact that an enemy has joined - do you want to continue.

Update to these rules: The use of "stalling," waiting out longer turn timers to bore the other players and force them to leave, now qualifies as Harassment and can be reported as such.
