It would be great if each player had an alliance rating (5 star system) where you could rate your alliance partners on how good an alliance partner they are. At the end of every game you would be given the option of rating the players you were in an alliance with. Then when someone sends you an alliance request, you could see if they are reliable or if the will stab you in the back the first chance they get!
This will mean you can make an informed choice about whether you should trust that person or not and it will weed out some of the cheating that's done through alliances
