I play with my friends all the time and we sometimes team up to defeat all the other players, i think it would be possible to add a team based game type! It would be a little complicated but basically you would start on set teams and you wouldnt be able to break your alliances. You could use the transfer phase to move troops through your allies territory, share the continent bonuses. I cant think of all the kinks but im sure someone can!!
